"Thrift of the Week" time!!! This week the thrift comparison is between Charlotte Russe and Plato's Closet. The first outfit pictured is from Charlotte Russe. The pants-$30, shirt-$20, and jacket-$14, for a total of $64. The second pictured outfit is from Plato's Closet. The pants-$10, shirt-$7, and jacket-$8, for a total of $25. Now....I don't know about you, but I would much rather spend $25 to look cute than $64! Even though it is not directly from the retail store, there is no sacrificing of quality to look cuter for cheaper.
When it comes to thrifting at stores like Plato's Closet, make sure you have plenty of time for shopping. I knew what I was looking for so it didn't take me as long to make this outfit, but for those who don't really have a good idea leave a good hour or two for shopping. Why an hour or two? You can't find the good deals if you just skim over the clothes. Take the time to look through them. Skimming doesn't allow you to see the design and shape of the shirt, let alone the shirts that get stuck between two other shirts(who knows...that shirt might be the one you end up buying!).
- For shirts, I recommend not spending anything more than $ 7-$10...any more than that and you are getting back to retail prices.
- For pants, I wouldn't spend more than $20(this is a little more to right at the average price for your favorite brand of jeans-Maurices, Aero, American Eagle, etc).
- For jackets, I suggest spending a max $15. It may not seem like that leaves a lot of room to work with, but you would be surprised at how many of their jackets are under that max price(example: the jacket I used for this outfit).
Your Fashionista,
Justina
